This old African baobab near Golconda is one of Hyderabad's stranger small sights. Local tradition says the tree is more than 400 years old, with a huge swollen trunk that stands out sharply from the surrounding Deccan landscape.
It is not worth crossing the city for by itself, but it is an easy detour if you are already visiting Golconda Fort or the Qutb Shahi Tombs. The interest is in the surprise of finding a Madagascar-origin baobab in the middle of Hyderabad.
