Hayat Bakshi Mosque was built in 1672 during the reign of Abdullah Qutb Shah and named for Hayat Bakshi Begum, one of the most powerful women of the Qutb Shahi court. Its arcaded prayer hall and open forecourt give it the calm, spacious feel of a Deccan royal mosque.
It sits well east of Hyderabad's best-known old-city sights, so it is easiest to visit if you are already exploring that side of the city.
