The Kite Museum at the Sanskar Kendra in Paldi is a small, single-floor display devoted to the kites of Gujarat. The collection traces 600 years of kite-making, with examples in printed silk, paper, and fabric, including kites with hidden compartments used to send messages and a few rare 19th-century specimens. The museum makes sense after the Uttarayan kite festival at Makar Sankranti in mid-January, when half of Ahmedabad is on its rooftops trying to cut the strings of its neighbours.
Free entry. Allow 20 minutes. The bigger Sanskar Kendra museum is in the same building.
