Navrangpura

Western Ahmedabad's main commercial and university district

Navrangpura, west of the Sabarmati, is the modern heart of Ahmedabad — wide boulevards, the Gujarat University campus, mid-range hotels, and almost all the major shops and restaurants of the new city. C.G. Road is the main commercial strip, lined with multi-storey shops, restaurants, and Khazana and Bandhej textile boutiques. The neighbourhood has none of the visual drama of the walled city but is where the visitor will eat, sleep, and shop.

Off C.G. Road, the leafier streets toward Law Garden and Ellisbridge hold the city's calmest cafes and a few of its best old bungalows. The Hutheesing Jain Temple and the L.D. Museum are at the northern edge of the district.
