The HAL Aerospace Museum at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's east Bangalore campus is the only museum of its kind in India dedicated to the country's aviation and aerospace manufacturing history. The outdoor display includes HAL-built fighters, trainers, and helicopters — including the HF-24 Marut, India's first indigenous jet fighter — along with engines, missiles, and aviation equipment from several decades of production. The indoor galleries cover HAL's history from 1940 to the present.
The museum is well run and genuinely interesting, not just for aviation enthusiasts but for anyone curious about India's industrial and defence history. It is in Marathahalli, in east Bangalore, a fair distance from the city centre, so it works best as a dedicated half-day trip. The surrounding area has a number of tech parks, which gives the whole excursion an odd temporal range — from Bangalore's original aircraft factory to its current software campuses.
