A steeply raked 2nd-century Roman amphitheatre cut into the north side of Jabal al-Jofeh, capable of seating 6,000 spectators and still used today for concerts and the annual Amman Summer Festival. The two small museums built into the wings — the Folklore Museum and the Museum of Popular Traditions — cover Bedouin costumes, jewellery and daily life. The acoustics are extraordinary; stand on the stage and speak softly to see why.
