Bahadur Shah Zafar Grave

The grave of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor, is a small but meaningful stop in central Yangon. After the 1857 uprising against British rule, he was exiled from Delhi to Rangoon with members of his family, and he died here in 1862.

The shrine is modest rather than monumental, but it draws visitors interested in Mughal history, Sufi devotion, and the long afterlife of the 1857 rebellion. There is no formal entrance fee, though donations are customary.
