People's Park spreads out beside Shwedagon Pagoda, giving Yangon a rare broad green space right next to its most important landmark. The park has lawns, paths, ponds, small attractions, and some of the best open views back toward the pagoda's golden stupa.
It is a useful place to decompress after the intensity of downtown Yangon or a visit to Shwedagon. Go late in the day, when the light warms the pagoda and families begin to use the park as an evening promenade.
