Ngar Htat Gyi Pagoda is best known for its large seated Buddha, set in a richly decorated hall that feels more intimate than Yangon's headline pagodas. The image is imposing without the bustle of Shwedagon, and the carved backdrop rewards a little unhurried looking.
It pairs naturally with nearby Chauk Htat Gyi, whose reclining Buddha draws more visitors. Seeing the two together gives a fuller sense of Yangon's devotional landscape: not just one famous golden stupa, but a network of neighbourhood shrines, images and monastic compounds woven through the city.
