A preserved quarter of traditional Korean hanok houses near the Daereungwon tomb park, home to about 100 traditional buildings of the Joseon period. The village is most famous as the production area of Gyeongju gyodong beopju — a traditional rice wine with a 1,000-year history, legally brewed by only one licensed producer in the village, using a method passed down through the Choi family for generations.
The village is atmospheric to walk through, with stone-walled lanes, tile-roofed compounds, and several traditional craft workshops. The Choi family's home, where the beopju is made, receives visitors. A short walk from the tomb complex. Free to enter.
