Yangdong Folk Village is one of Korea's finest preserved clan villages, with estates and traditional houses dating mainly from the 15th and 16th centuries. Many of the roughly 150 buildings are still inhabited, which gives the place more life than a reconstructed folk park.
The main houses include Yi Hui-tae's estate, Simsujeong, and Hyangdam. Buses from Gyeongju get you close, but expect a short walk from the stop; the village works best as a half-day trip for travellers interested in Confucian architecture and old Korean rural life.
