Sarda Island sits in Vau Dejës Lake, southeast of Shkodër, and is known for the remains of the medieval city of Sarda. By the late 15th century this was an important economic and cultural centre in northern Albania.
The appeal is the mix of lake scenery and ruined stonework. It is a better fit for travellers with their own transport or a local boat arrangement than for a quick wander from central Shkodër.
