The Church of St. Ignatius is Dubrovnik's ornate Jesuit church, reached by the broad Baroque staircase that climbs from Gundulićeva Poljana. The staircase was modelled on the Spanish Steps in Rome and makes the approach part of the experience.
Built between 1667 and 1725, the church has the theatrical Baroque style typical of Jesuit architecture, with a richly decorated interior and illusionistic frescoes. It is a worthwhile stop while exploring the quieter upper lanes of the old town.
