Founded in 1225 and built between the late 13th and 16th centuries, the Dominican Monastery sits near the Ploce Gate at the eastern end of the Stradun. The cloister arcades were carved in the mid-15th century by local masters following designs by the Italian Renaissance sculptor Maso di Bartolomeo. Inside, the monastery museum holds an impressive collection of paintings by Dubrovnik's Renaissance artists. Look for the ornate Gothic doorway on the southern wall, dating from 1419.
