Corniche Kennedy

Five-kilometre coastal road and promenade along the sea south of the port

The Corniche Kennedy, officially the Corniche du Président Kennedy, runs five kilometres along the Mediterranean from the Catalans beach south to the Prado. The route hugs the cliffs above the water, with views out across the bay to the Frioul islands and the Château d'If. The whole length is walkable along a wide seaside pavement on the inland side and a low parapet wall facing the water.

The Vallon des Auffes, a tiny fishing harbour tucked under the Corniche's arched bridge, is the prettiest stop along the way — a postcard cluster of brightly painted boats wedged between the road above and the sea. The Anse de Maldormé and the Pointe Rouge area further south have small swimming coves where locals dive directly off the rocks in summer. Buses run the length of the Corniche but the walk, ideally at sunset, is the better experience.
