A small museum housed in a 19th-century captains' house in the Kastro district, just above Paraportiani church. The collection documents traditional Mykonian life through furniture, textiles, ceramics, and domestic objects. One wing is set up as a traditional bedroom of the period, another as a kitchen. There is also a working Bonis windmill on the premises, one of the last of the traditional grain mills that once lined the ridge of Mykonos Town.
The museum is modest in scale but gives a useful counterpoint to the island's reputation for excess — a reminder that, two generations ago, this was a poor fishing and farming community where resourcefulness counted for more than style.
