Founded in 1580 in the village of Ano Mera in the centre of the island, this monastery is dedicated to the protectress of Mykonos. The highlight is the massive baroque iconostasis (altar screen), made in 1775 by Florentine artists — small icons set amid green, red, and gold-leaf carved flowers, with figures of the apostles at the top. The hanging incense holders, with silver dragons holding red eggs in their mouths, show a striking eastern influence. A small museum displays embroideries and liturgical vestments.
