One of the most photographed churches in Greece, and the architectural symbol of Mykonos. Positioned near the harbour entrance in the oldest part of town (the Kastro), Paraportiani is actually a cluster of five small churches built between 1475 and the 17th century, fused together into a single whitewashed mass with a domed upper chapel. The organic, sculptural form is extraordinary — it looks almost like it grew from the rock.
