The Alta Via dei Monti Liguri runs along the Apennine ridge above Genoa, offering sea views that are hard to believe until you see them. The Columbus Itinerary — also called the Bread Path — follows the route used by Columbus's ancestors to carry goods between the Fontanabuona valley and the port. Most trailheads are reachable by bus from the city and the routes are well marked.
