Twin residential towers completed in 2014 in the Porta Nuova district, draped in over 900 trees and 20,000 plants growing from their balconies. Designed by Stefano Boeri, they won the International Highrise Award and have become one of the most photographed buildings in contemporary Milan. The towers are private residences — you view them from the street or from the adjacent Piazza Gae Aulenti.
Best seen at a distance from the piazza, or from the window of a train leaving Milano Porta Garibaldi. The surrounding Porta Nuova district, with its glass towers and pedestrian plazas, is a striking counterpoint to the historic centre.
