Magere Brug

The Magere Brug, or Skinny Bridge, is one of Amsterdam's most photographed bridges. The white-painted wooden drawbridge crosses the Amstel between Kerkstraat and Nieuwe Kerkstraat, with nine arches and a central section still operated by hand.

The first bridge here was built in 1691, though the present version dates from 1934. It is especially good after dark, when hundreds of small lights turn the bridge into the postcard view everyone secretly wants from Amsterdam.
