Zuiderkerk was built between 1603 and 1611 and was one of Amsterdam's early Protestant churches. It stands in the old southern churchyard area, close to the canals and the former Jewish Quarter.
The church is no longer mainly used for worship, but the tower is the draw for visitors. When open for guided climbs, it gives a close view over the old centre's rooftops and canals.
