Kunstinstituut Melly — renamed in 2021 from Witte de With after a long debate over the historical figure — is one of the better contemporary art spaces in the Netherlands, with a programme that leans toward installations, video, and politically charged work. The exhibition rooms across two floors of a 19th-century school on the Witte de Withstraat are intimate enough to make the work easier to absorb than at the bigger institutions.
Combine with a meal or drink on the street outside, which is one of Rotterdam's better evening strips.
