The Mariniersmuseum tells the story of the Dutch Marine Corps from its 17th-century origins to its modern role. Its strongest section covers the Marines' defence of Rotterdam in May 1940, which gives useful context to the old harbour area around the museum.
The museum sits near the Oude Haven, so it is easy to combine with the Cube Houses, the Witte Huis, and a walk along the historic waterfront.
