A wooded recreation area on the rocky ridge that rises immediately north of the city centre, with a network of small lakes, marked walking paths and rocky viewpoints. It has been a public park since the 1880s, when local industrialist Edvard Hansen set about planting the bare granite with trees at his own expense; today it is the lung of the city and the closest place to the centre for a proper walk.
The 5 km loop around the lakes is the standard outing. Stigevannet, the larger of the two lakes, has a small swimming jetty used by local families on warm days. Reachable on foot from the cathedral in fifteen minutes.
