Housed in a 15th-century Franciscan monastery, the collection is strongest on Flemish and Dutch Golden Age painting and Gdansk decorative arts. The highlight is Hans Memling's monumental triptych The Last Judgement (1473), one of the great Flemish masterworks. It ended up in Gdansk in extraordinary fashion: commissioned by a Florentine banker, it was seized at sea by a Gdansk privateer while being shipped from Bruges to Italy, and the city simply kept it.
