Uphagen House is an 18th-century merchant's townhouse on Dluga Street, named for Johann Uphagen, who bought it in 1775. Rebuilt after the destruction of 1945, it now shows how a wealthy Gdansk burgher household looked and functioned.
The rooms make a useful counterpoint to the grand facades of the Main Town: less monumental, more domestic, and easier to imagine as part of daily city life.
