The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology on Downing Street is one of Cambridge's most underrated free museums. The collection covers human cultures from the Palaeolithic to the modern era, with particularly strong holdings in Pacific materials (including items collected on Cook's voyages), Sub-Saharan African artefacts, and the local Cambridge Fens archaeology. A totem pole from North America stands in the entrance hall. The museum is free; open Tuesday to Saturday.
