The Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences

The Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences is Cambridge University's oldest museum and one of the city's best specialist collections. Its galleries cover fossils, minerals, gemstones, dinosaurs, and local finds from the Fens, with material ranging from the earliest life on earth to Ice Age animals.

The highlights include rocks collected by Charles Darwin on the voyage of the Beagle, Jurassic and Triassic fossils, and a fossil hippopotamus found in nearby gravel beds. It is a useful stop for families, geology-minded visitors, or anyone building a museum-heavy Cambridge day around the Fitzwilliam, Whipple, and archaeology collections.
