The National Videogame Museum gives Sheffield a distinctive museum that feels different from the city's industrial and gallery circuit. It treats videogames as design, technology, art, and social history, with playable exhibits that make the subject accessible even if you are not reading every label.
It is an especially good choice for families, game designers, and anyone interested in contemporary culture. Because the exhibits are hands-on, the visit can take longer than expected if you start playing rather than simply browsing.
