Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site

The Italianate brick mansion of Indiana's only US president — Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd, who served from 1889 to 1893. The 16-room home on North Delaware Street is preserved with most of the original furnishings, including Harrison's books, his first lady Caroline's hand-painted china, and the desk on which he wrote his inaugural address.

The hour-long guided tours run several times a day. The home doubles as a small political-history museum: Harrison signed both the Sherman Antitrust Act and the legislation creating the first six national forests. Harrison is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery a few miles north.
