The only museum east of the Mississippi devoted to Native American and Western American art, with a strong holding of pieces by Georgia O'Keeffe, Frederic Remington, T.C. Cannon, Allan Houser, and contemporary Indigenous artists. The collection is unusually thoughtful in how it juxtaposes 19th-century Western painting against contemporary critique.
The building, a sandstone-and-adobe complex on the canal, is itself worth seeing. The Sky City café in the lobby is a popular downtown lunch spot. Allow about two hours.
