Kubota Garden

Kubota Garden is a 20-acre Japanese garden in Rainier Beach, blending formal Japanese design with Pacific Northwest plants. Fujitaro Kubota began the garden in 1927 on logged-off swampland, shaping hills, ponds, bridges, and waterfalls into a landscape that still feels personal rather than institutional.

It is one of Seattle's best quiet outdoor stops, especially in spring and autumn. The garden is south of the usual downtown tourist circuit, so it rewards travellers who are willing to ride or drive beyond the obvious sights.
