The Museu do Homem do Norte ("Museum of Northern Man") is less polished than the larger institutions, but it fills a specific gap: it is about the caboclo, the mixed-heritage riverside dweller who is the actual everyday population of the Amazon. The displays cover river-bank life — house construction, fishing techniques, manioc agriculture, rubber tapping, the use of forest plants for medicine and food.
The space is small and the labels are in Portuguese only, but the layout — circling around a central courtyard — gives a clear arc from forest to river to town. A good 30-minute stop, particularly before or after a boat trip into the surrounding lakes.
