Praia da Lua ("Moon Beach") is the most picturesque of the river beaches near Manaus — a crescent of fine white sand on the north bank of the Rio Negro, framed by jungle and only accessible by boat. The beach grows and shrinks dramatically with the river, almost disappearing during the May–July high water and broadening into a long sandbar from August to November.
Small thatched bars serve cold beer and grilled fish. Most visitors come on day trips arranged through hotels or directly with boat owners at the Marina da Manaus, about 30 minutes upstream. Bring sun protection; shade is limited.
