The Parque do Mindu is the largest patch of preserved forest within the urban perimeter of Manaus — 33 hectares of secondary rainforest crossed by suspended walkways that put visitors at canopy level among the trees. It is home to the highest density of the rare pied tamarin (sauim-de-coleira), an endemic monkey found only around Manaus and now critically endangered.
Trails are well marked, with information boards (in Portuguese) on the trees and animals. There is a small amphitheatre that hosts free concerts on weekend evenings. The park is best on weekday mornings when the heat is bearable and the monkeys are most active.
