Durban Cultural and Documentation Centre

Museum and archive on Durban's Indian indentured-labour history

The Durban Cultural and Documentation Centre focuses on the history of Indian indentured labour in Natal, one of the stories that explains Durban's food, religion, politics, and street life. Exhibits cover the arrival of workers, plantation life, family histories, and the community that grew from those beginnings.

It pairs well with Grey Street, the Juma Masjid, and Victoria Street Market. The centre is not as large as KwaMuhle Museum, but it fills in a part of Durban's past that visitors can otherwise miss while chasing beaches and curry houses.
