Zindabazar is the modern commercial heart of Sylhet — a bustle of shops, restaurants, hotels, and offices spreading out from the central crossroads. It is where most visitors stay, and where most of the city's mid- and upper-range eating happens. The Blue Water Shopping City, Surma Plaza, and a string of garment and electronics shops occupy the main streets.
Walking Zindabazar in the evening is essentially the local pastime — Sylhetis gather here for tea, ice cream, and people-watching. From the central square it is a short walk to Madani Square, Bondorbazar, and the older parts of town around the river. Traffic is heavy; take CNGs for any distance.
