Osmani Museum

The childhood home of General Muhammad Ataul Goni Osmani, the commander-in-chief of the Bangladesh Liberation Forces during the 1971 war of independence, is now a small museum displaying his personal effects, military uniform, books, photographs, and the medals he received. The general was from Sylhet and is one of the city's most-celebrated figures; the museum is treated as a near-pilgrimage site by Bangladeshi visitors.

The house itself is a wooden colonial-era structure preserved largely as it was during his lifetime, with original furnishings in the family rooms. Entry is free and a guided walk is usually included. Closed on Sundays; check current opening hours before visiting.
