Pantumai (sometimes Pangthumai) is a tall waterfall just inside India that visitors view from across a shallow river on the Bangladesh side — you can wade close enough to feel the spray, but not technically cross the border. The setting is dramatic: green hills rising sharply, the white fall cutting down between them, and clear river water at your feet.
The falls are at their most impressive during and just after the monsoon (July to October) when they swell with rainfall from Meghalaya. In the dry months the flow reduces to a trickle and the trip is less rewarding. Combine with Bichanakandi for a full border-region day.
