Longqingxia is a flooded gorge north of central Beijing, often visited as a day trip for its steep cliffs and boat rides through the canyon. The scenery is the draw: narrow water, rock walls, and small peaks reflected in the reservoir.
Boat cruises are the easiest way to see the gorge, while seasonal activities such as rope slides and winter ice displays add to the appeal. It is a long trip from the centre, so treat it as a half-day or full-day excursion rather than a quick city sight.
