Mei Lanfang's Residence is a small museum devoted to one of the great figures of Peking opera. Mei Lanfang performed for more than fifty years and became famous for dan roles, the female characters traditionally played by male actors.
The exhibits include furniture, costumes, photographs, and opera material connected with Mei's life and stage career. It pairs naturally with a walk around Shichahai and nearby hutong lanes.
