Zhongshan Park

Zhongshan Park sits beside Tiananmen and the Forbidden City, on land once used for imperial ritual. Today it is a landscaped public garden with old trees, bamboo, pavilions, and quieter paths that make a useful pause between the huge sights around the palace.

The park is worth treating as more than a shortcut. Its position beside the Forbidden City gives it historic weight, while the gardens show a calmer side of central Beijing than the broad ceremonial spaces nearby.
