Nanchang Museum

The Nanchang Museum (南昌博物馆) presents the city's history from Neolithic settlements through to the Republican era, with a particular focus on the Han dynasty period when Nanchang served as the regional capital of Yuzhang commandery. The Han-era collection includes bronze vessels, lacquerware, and jade objects recovered from local tombs, providing context for a city whose history extends far deeper than its twentieth-century revolutionary fame suggests.

The exhibition on the Republican period and the 1927 uprising is inevitably present, though handled more curatorially than the dedicated uprising museum nearby. The building itself is modern and well organized, with clear labeling in both Chinese and English for the main exhibits.
