Qingshan Lake Park (青山湖公园) in the eastern part of the city is one of Nanchang's largest urban green spaces, built around a reservoir lake that was expanded and landscaped in the 1990s. The park is particularly worth visiting in spring, when cherry trees along the lakeside paths bloom in mid-March, drawing weekend crowds of photographers. The rest of the year it's a functional urban park — jogging paths, exercise equipment, a children's area, and boating on the lake — but well maintained and genuinely pleasant.
The park is connected to the city center by metro Line 1. It represents the eastern edge of the walkable city for most visitors, though the surrounding residential neighborhoods are worth wandering on foot if you're interested in ordinary urban Nanchang.
