The leafy, cosmopolitan east-bank neighbourhood that turned Pune into a destination for foreign travellers. Built originally for British officers, then partially taken over by the Osho ashram in the 1970s, it now wears all three layers at once -- old bungalows, maroon-robed sannyasins, and the new craft-beer-and-cold-brew crowd.
The lanes are numbered (North Main, Lane 1, Lane 5, Lane 7) and run east of Bund Garden. Most of Pune's best bars and cafes are here, alongside boutique shops and a constant turnover of restaurants. The mood is unmistakeable as soon as you turn off Pune-Ahmednagar Road: leafier, quieter, and recognisably international.
