One of the original gates into the old city of Udaipur — Chandpole (literally "moon gate") — and the neighbourhood that has grown up around it on the western side of Lake Pichola. The gate itself, a low whitewashed arch, is still standing; the surrounding lanes are home to a number of long-running miniature-painting workshops and silver studios.
This is a working part of town rather than a tourist district. A short walk takes you to Swaroop Sagar lake and the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal folk museum.
