The smallest of Udaipur's old-city lakes, Rang Sagar sits just north of Lake Pichola and west of Swaroop Sagar — really more of a wide pond than a lake. It is fringed by a number of small temples and old havelis, several of which have been converted into boutique hotels.
A pleasant 20-minute walk takes you around the lake. The view across the water to the back of the City Palace is one of the more atmospheric in the city, particularly when monsoon rains have raised the water level.
