Pokhara Regional Museum

Ethnographic museum of the Gurung, Magar, Thakali and Tamang peoples

A modest ethnographic museum in central Pokhara, showcasing the everyday life and material culture of the hill peoples of central Nepal. The displays include traditional clothing, agricultural tools, religious objects and a reconstructed Gurung house interior. There is also a section on the prehistoric finds from the Pokhara valley.

It is small and dated in presentation, but it gives a useful introduction to the cultural mosaic of the region before you set off into the hills. About 30 minutes is enough. Modest entrance fee; closed on Tuesdays and public holidays.
