One of Pokhara's stranger geological features: the Seti Gandaki river runs straight through the centre of the city, but is largely invisible — it has carved a narrow gorge so deep and so steep that you can stand on a bridge in Mahendrapul and barely see the water 50 metres below. The river is fed by Annapurna glaciers and carries fine grey silt that gives it the "white" name (seti = white in Nepali).
The best view is from the old K.I. Singh Bridge in the centre or from the riverside park at Bhimsen Tole. The Pokhara Regional Museum nearby has displays on the city's history and Gurung culture. Free; ten minutes is enough for the bridges, longer if you combine with a stroll through the old bazaar.
